Cybersecurity Assurance Level (CAL)

Classification scheme used in ISO21434 that specifies a set of goal-based assurance requirements on the cybersecurity process, in terms of levels of rigor or effort necessary to provide confidence that the protection of systems is adequate and communicates these requirements clearly throughout the supply chain.

Deterministic Random Bit Generator (DRBG)

Algorithm for generating a sequence of numbers whose properties approximate the properties of sequences of random numbers.

Differential Fault Analysis (DFA)

Attack methodology to retrieve secret data based on fault injections. The principle is to induce faults—unexpected environmental conditions—into cryptographic implementations, to reveal their internal states.

Differential Power Analysis (DPA)

Analysis using covariance to recover secret information from Side-Channel observations

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

Set of access control technologies for restricting the use of proprietary hardware and copyrighted works.

Direct Memory Access (DMA)

Feature of computer systems that allows certain hardware subsystems to access main system memory (random-access memory) independently of the central processing unit (CPU).

Electronic Control Unit (ECU)

Embedded system in automotive electronics that controls one or more of the electrical systems or subsystems of a vehicle.

Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

Tools for the design and production of electronic systems ranging from printed circuits to integrated circuits
